Severe Sandstorm Slams Israel

In Israel the environment officials are saying that the country is experiencing the worst sandstorm in over four years and that the air pollution levels are 40 times higher than usual. The conditions have travel by air halted because the visibility is limited to no greater than a mile.

Haaretz has reported that the air pollution is most severe in the city of Haifa. Forecasters are saying that the desert sand blew in from Egypt and Libya.

The storm is expected to calm on Tuesday evening due to cooler weather.
