Decaying viewership for ‘The Walking Dead’ leaves AMC hunting for a new hit series

AMC Networks needs a new hit TV series as “The Walking Dead” bleeds viewership.
The cable network’s AMCX, -1.31%  flagship zombie apocalypse series has seen its impressive viewership rapidly decay recently. The Season 7 finale on April 2 had the lowest ratings the series has seen since season 3 in 2012.
The rate of viewership declines for “The Walking Dead” was one driver for Piper Jaffray analyst Stan Meyers downgrading the stock to neutral from overweight on Monday.
